Meet Zach Shupe

Zach Shupe | Digital Content Strategist, Purdue Brand Studio

Zach is a Digital Content Strategist with Purdue Brand Studio, where he helps translate Purdue’s research, priorities and accomplishments into digital communications that reach the right audiences. He began at Purdue in 2021 in the Office of Research Communications and now serves on Brand Studio’s Research, Student Success and Purdue Today cross-functional teams, giving him a broad view of communications priorities across the university.
Much of Zach’s work centers on partnering with the people powering Purdue’s research enterprise. Through social media, email marketing, campaigns and digital strategy, he helps researchers and research-support teams communicate complex work in ways that are clear, engaging and audience-focused.
Helping Purdue Research Reach Its Audience
From building newsletter templates and developing social media content to coordinating campaigns with Brand Studio, Zach works with teams to identify the best digital approach for what they are trying to accomplish.
For him, effective research communication begins with understanding the audience and the desired outcome. Rather than applying the same communications solution to every project, he works with partners to determine which channels, messages and strategies can have the greatest impact.
“I help put together solutions that are audience-focused and maximize impact for whatever you’re trying to build awareness around.” – Zach Shupe
A Few Questions with Zach
What was your very first job?
My grandparents owned a Dairy Queen when I was growing up. Every summer as a kid I was making cones, working the cash registers and scraping gum off the drive-thru’s concrete.
What is a favorite Purdue memory or experience?
In 2011, Purdue hosted College GameDay for a basketball game against Michigan State. We had a blast camping out the night before and being courtside for the live show, then watching Purdue get a ranked win at home. Watch the win here!
What is a tradition or routine you look forward to?
Every Friday morning, I take my two boys, ages 2 and 4, to breakfast
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Control your controllables and keep the main thing the main thing.”
What are you currently reading, watching or listening to?
I’m reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy for the first time since I was a kid. I’m currently on The Two Towers.
