Internal Funding

Purdue offers a range of internal funding programs designed to support innovative research, strengthen collaborations, and help faculty advance competitive proposals. These opportunities provide critical resources to explore new ideas, bridge funding gaps, and position projects for external sponsorship.

Re-SPARK Program (Supporting Partnering for Advanced Research Teamwork)

The Re-SPARK Program supports Purdue-led interdisciplinary teams pursuing center-scale external funding of $7 million or more. Priority goes to teams resubmitting a proposal that was reviewed but not funded, with support for reviewer-feedback analysis, resubmission strategy, and proposal development.

NIH-targeted Initiatives

NIH-targeted initiatives provide strategic internal support for faculty preparing competitive proposals aligned with National Institutes of Health priorities. These programs help refine research concepts and improve proposal readiness for major NIH funding opportunities.

Ross-Lynn Research Fund

The Ross-Lynn Research Fund supports faculty research across disciplines, helping advance scholarly work and expand the impact of ongoing projects. Funding is intended to foster innovation and strengthen research outcomes.

Ralph W. and Grace M. Showalter Research Trust

The Showalter Research Trust provides funding for research in engineering and applied sciences, supporting projects that contribute to technological advancement and practical solutions.

Research Instrumentation Program

The Research Instrumentation Program supports the acquisition of shared equipment and infrastructure for laboratories and core facilities. This funding enhances research capabilities and promotes efficient use of resources across campus.

Research Bridge Program

The Research Bridge Program provides temporary funding to sustain research programs between external grants. It helps maintain momentum, retain key personnel, and support continuity during funding transitions.

Clifford B. Kinley Trust

The Clifford B. Kinley Trust was established in 1978 to fund research relating to human welfare and was activated in 1991 upon Mrs. Kinley’s death.
