The Devil We Know: Movie and Seminar Event featuring Dr. Jamie DeWitt
The Center for the Environment's Chemical Exposures Signature Research Area is pleased to welcome Dr. Jamie DeWitt, Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University for a two-day event at Purdue University.
Dr. DeWitt will present a seminar as part of the HSCI Seminar Series on September 10 at 4:30pm. The multi-day event will culminate with a special viewing of the movie The Devil We Know on September 11 at 6:30pm, which will be followed by an expert speaker panel for questions and discussions. Experts on the panel include Dr. DeWitt (toxicology) in addition to Dr. Jason Hoverman (FNR, ecotoxicity), and Dr. Linda Lee (environmental fate and transport).
The Devil We Know documents a handful of West Virginia residents who discover DuPont has been pumping its poisonous Teflon chemical into the air and public water supply of more than 70,000 people. They subsequently file one of the largest class action lawsuits in the history of environmental law.
