Purdue is well positioned to educate future leaders, conduct innovative research, and collaborate with governments, industries, and social groups to advance sustainability. In summer 2024, an initiative was launched to study recent and current sustainability practices and initiatives on campus and identify ways to enhance sustainability practices across campus and further position Purdue as a leader in sustainability among its peers in the Big Ten Academic Alliance and beyond. The Institute for a Sustainable Future (ISF), supported by the Offices of Research (OOR), Administrative Operations (AO), and the Provost, is leading this effort. The effort includes several outputs including a Purdue Sustainability Performance Analysis (SPA), a first-of-its-kind comprehensive Purdue University Campus Sustainability Self-Study (CaSS), a “Get to Gold” short report and a Purdue Guide to Sustainable Living. This project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), central to ISF's mission, and the AASHE STARS framework.
