    Amazon on Fire: People, Policy & Environmental Impacts

    Description: This panel, featuring scholars from Purdue University and Brazil, provides several disciplinary perspectives on the recent fires in the Brazilian Amazon. Speakers will discuss environmental impacts of the fires on people and the environment, Brazil’s changing forestry policy, and possible implications of the current global response on the current administration. Join us for this pop-up panel to learn more of the story behind the headlines. The event will include opportunities for questions and discussion.

    Pat-I Kayapó : Kayapó filmmaker from Brazil, Honor's College Visiting Scholar

    Eduardo Rafael Galvao: Brazilian visiting scholar and activist for  socio-environmental change

    Laura Zanotti: Associate Professor of Anthropology with focus on Brazil

    Tim Filley: Professor of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences & Agronomy, with focus on soil health
