Arequipa Nexus Institute in Peru Receives $4 Million for Phase 3 Funding

In August 2023, the Arequipa Nexus Institute for Food, Water, and the Environment received $4 million in funding from the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín (UNSA) for a third phase of research collaboration. The institute collaborates with a multitude of faculty and students from a number of Purdue's colleges who work with faculty from UNSA. The goal is to build long-term collaborations that address environmental, agroeconomic and social challenges that create a sustainable future for the people of Arequipa. The projects in the third phase will continue to address challenges in the region while also improving the livelihoods of underserved highland communities. Post Doc Research Associate Position

Seeking a postdoctoral researcher in environmental epidemiology to work with Dr. Ellen Wells’s lab on study dedicated to understand the role of environmental contaminants (metals, air pollution, VOCs, PFAS) on neurological health and epigenetics. The study will recruit both adults and children. This is an R01-funded community-engaged project focused on environmental injustice within northwestern Indiana. The postdoctoral researcher would be expected to assist with all aspects of the study, including recruitment, data collection, management, analysis, and reporting, as needed. The researchers will also assist with coordination among study partners, including multidisciplinary academic collaborators, community members and other stakeholders. This is a two-year full-time position; salary will be commensurate with NIH standards; extensions possible pending funding availability. The position is located within the School of Health Sciences at Purdue University.
