Jen-Yi Huang (FoodSci) received funding for his project to increase the production of seafood which is more sustainably produced than land-based foods. Collaborators on this project also include: Natalie Carroll (AGED/ABE), Abigail Engelberth (ABE/EEE), Betty Feng (FoodSci), Lindsey Payne (EEE), and George Zhou (CE/EEE).

In a recent Purdue Extension survey conducted by affiliates Nathan Shoaf - Senior Urban Agriculture Coordinator and Laura Ingwell (ENTO) found that over 60% of surveyed Indiana urban agriculturalists were over the age of 50. Additionally, that over 60% is comprised of females.

Several groups in IN, as well as local community organizations (including Confront the Climate Crisis -local youth group--and the West Lafayette Go Greener Commission) mobilizing for climate change legislation, have worked hard with a cross-the-aisle group of representatives to draft Senate Bill 335, which would establish a climate solutions task force to review issues related to sustainable and clean energy solutions. This task force would likely include a seat designated for a representative of ISF. You can read the full bill here. The bill will be heard in the Senate Environmental Affairs Committee on February 20, at 10:00 AM. We encourage you to learn more about the bill and to get involved as you feel appropriate.
