    2024 ISF Graduate Fellowship Competition

    November 28, 2023

Purdue’s Institute for a Sustainable Future (ISF) is pleased to announce the 2024 ISF Graduate Fellowship competition, marking the second year of this initiative.  The ISF Graduate Fellowship underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting interdisciplinary research in the field of sustainability.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, ISF will award two 1-year fellowships which provide salary, tuition coverage, and additional research support to PhD students conducting interdisciplinary sustainability research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on ISF’s strategic interests.  One of these fellowships is dedicated to the recruitment of outstanding new PhD students to Purdue, the second is open to currently enrolled PhD students, with preference given to recruitment efforts. Active participation of faculty member in ISF activities will be considered in evaluating applications.

Nominations for these fellowships must be submitted by ISF faculty affiliates. The review of applications will begin February 5, 2024, and will continue until both fellowships have been successfully awarded.   Detailed information, including competition guidelines and application procedures in the linked description.   Questions can be directed to ISF Operations Manager, Karan Hustedt-Warren, via email at khustedt@purdue.edu

Building on the success of the inaugural year in 2023, in which Miriam Stevens, a 4th-year PhD student in Environmental and Ecological Engineering, and Wagner Tamagno Sr., a 1st-year PhD student in Toxicology, were named as recipients, the ISF Graduate Fellowship continues to contribute to the development of sustainability research leaders. Profiles of graduate fellows and their research endeavors are available under the ‘people page’ on the ISF website.

ISF remains dedicated to supporting collaborative research addressing global sustainability challenges and the training of the next generation of researchers in sustainability. These fellowships are integral components of ISF's broader initiatives to support and empower future leaders in sustainability research.
