Emerging Researcher - ISF Travel Grant Recipient Juan Manuel Arevalo Viveros

August 20, 2025
Thanks in part to an ISF travel grant, Juan Manuel Arevalo Viveros traveled to Lisbon, Portugal in June to present at the 2025 International Sustainability Transitions Conference. His research explores how the Misak people’s 5,000+ years of ancestral wisdom in the region of Cauca, Columbia offers powerful lessons for creating more habitable futures. By sharing this work at an international forum, he was able to spotlight the indigenous community in sustainability transitions and spark important conversations. ISF is proud to help make opportunities like this possible for emerging researchers.
We'll be opening our travel grant portal for Fall 2025 applications in the coming weeks, so be sure to check the ISF Student Resources page for details.
